ALFRED LOUIS VIGNY JACOMIN

BIOGRAPHY
Alfred Jacomin was born in 1842 in Paris. He began his studies with his father, Jean-Marie Jacomin, and then went on to study at the Académie Suisse and the École des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français from 1867 and became a member in 1883. He showed his work and was given medals in London, Philadelphia, Barcelona and Lyons. Jacomin painted genre subjects, usually on panel, paying great attention to detail and costume, and was particularly taken with interiors of blacksmith shops, armories and studios. Jacomin’s landscapes are rare but possess the same rich, jewel-like qualities of the interiors.
