BIOGRAPHY
Henry Thomas Alken showed two portraits at London's Royal Academy in 1801 and 1802.  Alken was first and foremost a painter of hunting and sporting subjects. In 1816 he published The Beauties and Defects in the Figure of the Horse and, in 1821, National Sports of Great Britain, a series of 50 colour plates. The Analysis of the Hunting Field was regularly reproduced.
